Basic Pakora Batter
Ingredients
- 1 cup Gram flour
- 1 tbsp Rice flour
- ¾ tsp Salt (or to taste)
- ½ tsp Sugar
- ½ tsp Red chili powder (or to taste)
- ¼ tsp Ground black pepper
- ½ tsp Ground coriander/cumin mix
- ¼ tsp Turmeric
- ¼ tsp Asafoetida (hing)
Instructions
- Combine the flours. Gradually add cold water to make a smooth, lump free, medium consistency batter.
- Add the spices and mix well.
- Note: batter is used to make a variety of pakoras.
- Just before making pakoras, mix ¼ tsp of baking soda (optional).
