Ingredients
  • 1 cup Rice (washe)
  • 1½ cup Water
  • 1 tsp Salt (or to taste)
  • Butter or ghee
Instructions
  1. NOTE: 1 C raw rice = 3 C cooked. Choice of rice : Basmati; Long grain jasmine; Brown (takes slightly longer to cook)
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil.
  3. Add salt and rice, lower heat and allow it to simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Cover & cook until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed (about 20 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat, let rest for a few minutes then fluff with a fork.
  6. When the rice is cooked, place some butter slices on top or drizzle some ghee
  7. NOTE: you can add cloves or star anise, whilst simmering
Variation
  1. Cook the rice in 6 cups of water, when 95% cooked, drain the water using a strainer. Cover and cook on lowest heat for 3 minutes. This process will remove additional starch which is beneficial to good health.
