Ingredients
  • 1 cup Gora flour
  • ½ cup Green peas (substitute boiled tuvar)
  • 2 cups Water
  • Salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp Turmeric
  • 1½ tsp Ground coriander/cumin mix
  • 2 tsps Green chilies (crushed to taste)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger (crushed)
Instructions
  1. In a saucepan do the tempering.
  2. Stir and add water, as it begins to bubble add all the remaining ingredients except the flour.
  3. Let it boil for a couple of minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low.
  5. Using a whisk to stir, slowly incorporate the flour, making sure there are no lumps.
  6. It should look like a very soft dough.
  7. Cover and cook on very low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  8. Alternatively, let cook for 5 minutes to harden slightly.
  9. Empty into a dish.
  10. Make 3 equal-sized balls and steam in a steamer for 25 minutes.
Tempering
Ingredients
  • ¼ cup Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • ⅛ tsp Asafoetida (hing)
Instructions
  1. Heat oil on medium high and add mustard seeds.
  2. When crackled, add hing then the peas.
