Gora No Lot

Ingredients
- 1 cup Gora flour
- ½ cup Green peas (substitute boiled tuvar)
- 2 cups Water
- 1¼ Salt (or to taste)
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- ½ tsp Turmeric
- 1½ tsp Ground coriander/cumin mix
- 2 tsps Green chilies (crushed to taste)
- 1 tbsp Ginger (crushed)
Instructions
- In a saucepan do the tempering.
- Stir and add water, as it begins to bubble add all the remaining ingredients except the flour.
- Let it boil for a couple of minutes.
- Reduce heat to low.
- Using a whisk to stir, slowly incorporate the flour, making sure there are no lumps.
- It should look like a very soft dough.
- Cover and cook on very low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Alternatively, let cook for 5 minutes to harden slightly.
- Empty into a dish.
- Make 3 equal-sized balls and steam in a steamer for 25 minutes.
Tempering
Ingredients
- ¼ cup Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- ⅛ tsp Asafoetida (hing)
Instructions
- Heat oil on medium high and add mustard seeds.
- When crackled, add hing then the peas.
