Potatoes Au Gratin
Ingredients
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 tbsps All purpose flour
- 2 medium Potatoes (peeled)
- ½ cup Onions (sliced)
- ½ cup Green bell pepper (sliced)
- ½ cup Mushrooms (sliced, optional )
- 2 medium Tomatoes (sliced round )
- Salt (to taste)
- Ground black pepper (to taste)
- Butter (as needed)
- Grated cheese
Instructions
- Whisk together milk and all purpose flour.
- Cut potatoes in ⅛ inch thick round slices.
- Steam slices until almost done.
- Gently empty into a plate, spread out to cool.
- Grease a microwave safe deep dish with butter.
- Arrange layers starting with potatoes then onions, peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper, pour some milk mixture all over.
- Place a couple of slices of butter then repeat with more layers until all is gone.
- Bake, covered in the microwave, on high for 5 minutes or until cooked and the gravy is thickened.
- Sprinkle cheese on top and bake until the cheese is melted.
- Note: can bake in the oven with raw potatoes for 30 minutes or until cooked.
- Broil for a couple of minutes to brown the cheese.
