Ingredients
  • 2 slices Bread (edges trimmed)
  • Butter
  • Green coriander chutney (recipe under "chutneys, pickles, etc.")
  • Oil (for frying)
Instructions
  1. Butter the bread slices, spread a thick layer of chutney on both slices and form a sandwich.
  2. Cut into four squares or four triangles.
  3. Heat oil on medium-high, dip bread sandwich in prepared batter.
  4. Coat completely and place in heated oil.
  5. Deep-fry until golden brown.
  6. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
Basic Pakora Batter
Ingredients
  • 1 cup Gram flour (sifted)
  • 1 tbsp Rice flour
  • ¾ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp red chili powder (or to taste)
  • ¼ tsp Ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp Ground coriander/cumin mix
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric
  • ¼ tsp Asaafoetida (hing)
Instructions
  1. Combine the flours, gradually add cold water to make a smooth, lump free, medium consistency batter.
  2. Add the spices and mix well.
  3. Just before making pakoras, mix ¼ tsp of baking soda (optional).
