Ingredients
  • 1 cup Gora flour
  • ½ cup Green peas (substitute boiled tuvar)
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1¼ tsp Salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp Turmeric
  • 1½ tsp Ground coriander/cumin mix
  • 2 tsps Green chilies (crushed, or to taste)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger (crushed)
Instructions
  1. In a saucepan, heat oil on medium high and add mustard seeds. When crackled, add hing then the peas.
  2. Stir and add water. As it begins to bubble add all the remaining ingredients except the flour.
  3. Let it boil for a couple of minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low.
  5. Using a whisk to stir, slowly incorporate the flour, making sure there are no lumps.
  6. It should look like a very soft dough.
  7. Cover and cook on very low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  8. Alternatively, let cook for 5 minutes to harden slightly.
  9. Empty into a dish.
  10. Make 3 equal-sized balls and steam in a steamer for 25 minutes.
  11. Note: can add some crushed raw peanuts, grated carrots, chopped green coriander.
