Pauva Bataka

Ingredients
- 1 cup Thick pauva
- 1 medium Potato (peeled and cubed small)
- 1 tsp Ground coriander/cumin mix
- ¾ tsp Salt (or to taste)
- 1½ tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Green chilies (crushed, or to taste)
- 1 tsp Ginger (crushed)
- 2 tbsps Raw peanuts
- 1 tsp Sesame seeds
- 2 tsps Lemon juice
- 6 Golden raisins
- ¼ cup Green coriander (finely chopped )
- 1 tbsp Grated coconut
Instructions
- Steam the potatoes.
- Wash and soak pauva in cold water for 5 minutes, then empty into a strainer.
- Press lightly to remove excess water.
- Let drain for a couple of minutes then empty into a dish.
- Combine all the ingredients in pauva except potatoes, peanuts, sesame seeds and raisins. Mix.
- In a frypan, do the tempering on medium heat.
- Heat oil, add mustard and cumin seeds. When crackled add turmeric, hing and curry leaves.
- Add peanuts, let roast then add sesame seeds and raisins, stir. When raisins are puffed add the potatoes.
- Sprinkle a little salt, stir for a minute then add the pauva and mix thoroughly.
- Cook covered on low heat until heated through.
- Remove from heat, garnish with more chopped green coriander.
- Serve with a lemon wedge on the side.

- ½ tsp Mustard seeds
- ½ tsp Cumin seeds
- ¼ tsp Turmeric
- ⅛ tsp Asafoetida (hing)
- 8 Curry leaves
