Ingredients
  • 1 cup Besan
  • ½ tsp Sanchoro
  • ¾ tsp Salt
  • ⅓ cup Water
  • ⅓ tsp Sugar
  • ½ cup Urad flour
  • ¼ tsp Baking powder
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida (hing)
  • ½ tsp White chili powder
  • Oil (for frying)
Instructions
  1. In a saucepan, add sanchoro and salt to ⅓ cup of water and boil for 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and let cool to warm.
  3. Strain only if there is residue settled.
  4. Add sugar and stir and set water aside.
  5. In a bowl, mix both flours.
  6. Sift the baking powder in.
  7. Add asafoetida and chili powder, mix.
  8. Using prepared water, make a stiff dough.
  9. Knead until smooth (grease hands if necessary).
  10. Make 15 small balls and roll very thin circles about 5 inch diameter (with the help of a little oil if needed).
  11. Place each circle on a table cloth and let dry for 15 minutes.
  12. With the back of a knife, make 1 inch strips on the circles, do not cut through.
  13. Fry on medium high heat.
  14. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
Sprinkling

  • 2 tbsps Red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Black salt (optional)
Instructions
  1. Mix ingredients and sprinkle on fafda.
  2. Break on the cuts, into strips to store.
