Sev
Ingredients
- 1 cup Besan (sifted)
- 1 tbsp Oil
- ¾ tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Sugar
- ¼ tsp Turmeric
- ½ tsp White chili powder
- ⅛ tsp Asafoetida (hing)
- Oil (for frying)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix oil in the besan then add the remaining ingredients and make a soft dough using cold water.
- Keep kneading until the dough is smooth and lighter in color.
- Wet hands occasionally to prevent dough from sticking to your hands.
- Spray oil in the sev sancha machine with a sev disc installed.
- Fill the dough and close the lid.
- Heat oil on medium high heat.
- Hold the machine over the hot oil and make sev.
- Fry until golden.
- Carefully turn over and continue frying.
- Remove and drain on a paper towel.
- Continue until all the dough is finished.
- Note: Can make sev in different flavors. Choice of: red chili powder; ground black pepper; lemon juice; powdered dry green coriander.
