Rice
Ingredients
- 1 cup Rice (washe)
- 1½ cup Water
- 1 tsp Salt (or to taste)
- Butter or ghee
Instructions
- NOTE: 1 C raw rice = 3 C cooked. Choice of rice : Basmati; Long grain jasmine; Brown (takes slightly longer to cook)
- In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil.
- Add salt and rice, lower heat and allow it to simmer for 5 minutes.
- Cover & cook until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed (about 20 minutes).
- Remove from heat, let rest for a few minutes then fluff with a fork.
- When the rice is cooked, place some butter slices on top or drizzle some ghee
- NOTE: you can add cloves or star anise, whilst simmering
Variation
- Cook the rice in 6 cups of water, when 95% cooked, drain the water using a strainer. Cover and cook on lowest heat for 3 minutes. This process will remove additional starch which is beneficial to good health.
