Ingredients
  • 1 cup Rice
  • ¼ cup Moong dal
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ⅛ tsp Turmeric
  • 2 Garlic (thinly sliced - optional)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger (grated - optional)
Instructions
  1. Soak moong dal for 30 minutes.
  2. Mix rice and dal and wash.
  3. In a medium saucepan, boil 1 1⁄2 cups of water, add the rice, salt and turmeric. Stir and reduce heat to low, simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Add garlic or ginger, if desired. Cover and cook until done and the water is absorbed.

  • Tuvar dal
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 3 Cloves
  • ½ tsp Whole cumin
  • 1½ cup Water
  • Salt (to taste)
  • pinch Turmeric
Instructions
  1. Wash & soak tuvar dal for 1 hour.
  2. Mix with washed rice.
  3. Sauté in 1 tbsp ghee with 3 cloves and ½ tsp whole cumin. Add 1½ cups of boiling water, salt and turmeric and cook as above.
