Makes 1½ Cups
Ingredients
  • 1 lb Salted or unsalted butter
Instructions
  1. Place butter in a deep saucepan and melt on medium heat.
  2. Let boil for a couple of minutes then lower heat and simmer for about 15 minutes.
  3. The froth should disappear and thin clear liquid is visible.
  4. The sediment on the bottom of the pan will appear light brown in color and the ghee will be light yellow.
  5. Sprinkle 1 tbsp of water for fine grain texture of ghee, remove from heat.
  6. Let sit for a couple of minutes then strain ghee with a fine mesh strainer, in a dry metal container.
  7. Discard the sediment.
  8. Note: For smoother ghee you can skip the water.
