How to Make Ghee
Makes 1½ Cups
Ingredients
- 1 lb Salted or unsalted butter
Instructions
- Place butter in a deep saucepan and melt on medium heat.
- Let boil for a couple of minutes then lower heat and simmer for about 15 minutes.
- The froth should disappear and thin clear liquid is visible.
- The sediment on the bottom of the pan will appear light brown in color and the ghee will be light yellow.
- Sprinkle 1 tbsp of water for fine grain texture of ghee, remove from heat.
- Let sit for a couple of minutes then strain ghee with a fine mesh strainer, in a dry metal container.
- Discard the sediment.
- Note: For smoother ghee you can skip the water.
